Science at DCS will be implemented through student learning experiences of exploration and discovery. Instruction will be inquiry-based and emphasize real-world, hands-on application of learning. Science instruction will be interdisciplinary and integrated into learning expeditions.


Students at DCS will have one hour daily of dedicated instructional time. In addition, there will be many natural applications for mathematics in learning expeditions when students will be able to measure, weigh, sort, calculate, construct, compute and analyze.


DCS is committed to enabling students to fully develop their ability and willingness to communicate in and comprehend written and spoken languages. All Expeditionary Learning projects and expeditions will require literacy skills: extensive reading, writing, listening, speaking and viewing. Core…
