On June 21, Rochester Discovery Charter School students shared with their families and friends some of what they have learned this year.
Kindergarten students had a display of their very exciting Toy Learning Expedition and what it entailed. Along with their wonderful drawings, visitors could take a look at their journals and also learn about their partnership with an elementary school in Burkina Faso!
First graders were proudly displaying their Turtle and Tortoise Learning Expedition and how much they have accomplished. Also present was Franklin, their class pet turtle.
Second graders had several tables with an array of displays and amazed attendees with their knowledge of Spiders, the theme of their learning expedition. Whether one wanted to learn about ‘the undertaker’, ‘the zigzag’, ‘the crusher’, ‘the silent snatcher’, ‘the lethal lady’ and others, there was a student ready to explain and provided a card with the relevant information.
After the exhibition, students and attendees moved to the auditorium for the Passage Ceremony. First, kindergarten graduation and then the moving up ceremony for first and second graders.
It was heartwarming to see the number of parents, siblings and friends who came to DCS to support the children.
