A group of Discovery Charter School first and second graders are participating in Horizons summer enrichment program through a partnership between Horizons, Nazareth College and Discovery.
There are sixteen students in each class and they enjoy an array of activities through the day. A typical day starts at 8:15 a.m. with breakfast and community circle. After that, they followed a schedule which varies every day and which includes, literacy, swimming, drama, music, art, play time, lunch and sports. The day ends at 3:00 p.m.
They also receive one-on-one tutoring provided by Nazareth graduate students. The program is housed at the Golisano Center at Nazareth College by Pittsford. In 2011, Nazareth became the first college in the nation to hosts a program in its campus.
The five-week program started on July 2nd and will end on August 2nd. 2012 marks the second summer that Discovery students participate in the program.
