At Discovery Charter School, our K-6 mathematics program is rigorous, engaging, and driven by our students’ data. We implement  the iReady Classroom Mathematics program, which follows the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards. Additionally, in grades K-1, we incorporate a daily Math Meeting block in which students practice counting, arithmetic, and story problems that allow them to gain flexibility in their thinking and solve in various ways. Student led discussions lead to peer sharing of ideas and strategies. Students in grades 2-6 take on an additional spiral review block daily to solidify previously taught content to ensure mastery.
