Discovery Charter School is a public elementary school in Rochester, NY, serving students in grades K-6, whose charter was approved by the New York State Education Department in December 2010, and opened its doors in August 2011. The building is situated on a picturesque 8.6 acres which contain ideal classroom and common use spaces.

Discovery Charter School will prepare students to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world, providing elementary school children real skills for the real world through an interdisciplinary program that integrates literacy, language arts, mathematics, social studies, visual arts and science. Our academic results speak for themselves. Discovery Charter School outperforms local public schools and NYS averages in ELA and mathematics. 

With specialized programs such as Creative Crew and Community Circle, Discovery enables every student to experience unique instruction and find their passions. Creative Crew is an initiative to introduce students to activities they show an interest in. From scrapbooking to musical theater and football, kids can choose a subject to learn about and partake in weekly. Community Circle is a school-wide weekly gathering where students host a live show with various segments for their fellow students, families, and community members. This event celebrates student achievements and encourages long-term success.

Discovery Charter School provides a high-quality education in a safe and supportive learning community for students and families, empowers students with diverse talents, delivers rigorous and culturally relevant instruction, and fosters creativity, inquiry and strong character development.

Transportation

Students attending DCS will receive transportation services for which they are eligible under state law.

School districts provide transportation of the students to charter schools if the students live within 15 miles of the school.
