Discovery Charter School welcomes two new members of the Board of Trustees beginning with the 2014-15 board year.
Sarah Amering is an executive with Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. who has vast experience in education, workforce development and human resources. A former elementary school teacher, Ms. Amering currently serves as Wegmans’ Director of Business/Educational Funding, and previously was President of Hillside Work Scholarship Connection, among other programs. Her community involvement includes being a member of the boards of Hillside Work Scholarship, Unity Health System, Workforce Investment, Center for Governmental Research, and Children’s Institute.
Yoshida Blackman is a familiar face to Discovery Charter School families, as she is a proud parent at the school and looks forward to being a voice for all parents as a trustee. Ms. Blackman has a wide array of professional experience in the human services arena, currently serving as a Direct Support Assistant at the Fingerlakes DDRO, working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Ms. Blackman held similar positions at Heritage Christian Services and was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Friendly Home, the Highlands.
