Discovery Charter School held its first admission lottery at the Ed Nietospki Gym at Bishop Kearney High School. Forty students’ names were drawn for kindergarten, first and second grades, for a total of 120. The rest of the applicants were placed on waiting lists in the order in which their names were drawn.
The students selected in the drawing must register by April 15, 2011. Failure to do that means that they relinquish their spot and the space will be offered to a student in the waiting list.
Discovery’s director, Joseph Saia, welcomed parents and potential future students before the lottery process went underway. The drawing was audited by Jason Acker, CPA with the Bonadio Group. Discovery’s trustees, as well as supporters and volunteers, were also present.
